The risk to be stroke by lightning for the classified installations which depend on the authorization system is governed by the order of January 28 th, 1993. This statutory text asks for the correspondence of the installations aimed at the standard NF-C or quite other European standard in terms of safety. It also clarifies the main principles of the protection systems. It was completed by two explanatory circulars of the Environment Ministry: |

The circular n°9317 of January 28 th , 1993, which defines the application conditions of the order, reminds the necessity of a preliminary lightning study and completes & clarifies the recommendations presented in the NF-C-17-100 French Standard. |

The circular of October 28 th, 1996 proposes a preliminary study for the Lightning risk and defines its contents. |
